"The well-known horseman, James E. Berryman, who is at the To Kalon Stock Farm, Oakville, Napa County, has been re-engaged for the ensuing year. Mr. Berryman will have a number of good ones on the circuit in 1895. At the beginning of this season distemper affected his little string of trotters and pacer's [sic]; this compelled him to take them back to the farm. It is hoped that no such misfortune will occur again. Mr. Berryman gave a number of horses fast records in the East before coming to California and during his sojourn here has marked several very low."
