The Los Angeles District's State Viticultural Commissioner's Report on progress in vine planting, varietals, blending wines, and the relatively poor crop of 1883. Notes that Crabb produced very fine wines from Malbeck [sic], Pied de Perdrix, Gamay, Teinturier, Lenoir, and Petit Pinot and that his Mataro, Sultana, and Carignan were good bearers for him that year; also repeats Crabb's advice for the fermentation process.
