Crabb died at age 71 on March 2, 1899, at To-Kalon. Short biography notes that he moved to California in 1853 and first farmed near San Lorenzo in Alameda County. "In 1867 he removed to Oakville, Napa county, where he has since lived. He began planting a vineyard on an extensive scale, being one of the pioneers of California in viticulture." Surviving relatives are his two daughters, Mrs. W.T. Johnson of D.C. and Mrs. C.C. Kemper of Oakville.
