Improvements made at Crabb's: new stable (56x60 feet) for 20 horses and 100 tons of hay (more details in article); new wine cellar (58x124 feet) to hold 110,000 gallons; old cellar (56x110 feet) repainted by John McLennan; old distillery (46x60 feet); new fermenting room (60x130 feet) between the new and old cellars; altogether Crabb has capacity for 800,000 gallons of wine. He had 160 acres of his own grapes and purchased 700 tons of grapes to be crushed by steam. Work was done by W.T. Simmons with 12 men. The winery premises (2 acres) were to be enclosed by a tight board fence 7 feet high.
